Undisputed welterweight world champion Cecilia Braekhus will be fighting Aleksandra Magdziak-Lopes next month at the StubHub Center, announced 360 Promotions on Thursday.

“It’s been my dream to fight Cecilia and I can’t wait to fight her,” said Magdziak-Lopes.

Braekhus (34-0, 9 KOs) was seeking an opponent for her upcoming fight on Dec. 8, at the Carson sports outdoor arena that will be shown on HBO. Magdziak (18-4-3, 1 KO) was the opponent chosen after a short search. The fight card will also feature Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez versus Mexico’s Pedro Guevara in the co-main event.

This is only the third time females are shown on HBO and the second time for Braekhus. Her last fight took place on May 5, at the same venue when she fought Kali Reis and won a close decision that saw both fight furiously the last four rounds.

Magdziak fights out of Massachusetts but is originally from Poland. She fought for the world title two years ago against fellow Polish fighter Ewa Piatkowska for the WBC super welterweight title but lost by decision. She recently fought to a draw against Natasha Spence last December who was earlier defeated by Hanna Gabriels.

Gabriels was one of those mentioned as a possible opponent along with Jessica McCaskill, Layla McCarter, Amanda Serrano and a few others. Now the decision is made and Braekhus looks to extend her unbeaten streak.

“I’m thrilled to be announcing my next title defense against Aleksandra Magdziak-Lopes,” said Cecilia Braekhus, currently training in Southern California with the renowned Johnathon Banks. “I know Aleksandra very well and this will be a very tough challenge for me.”

The Braekhus-Magdziak fight will be the last HBO telecast of boxing. After more than 40 years the network will no longer televise boxing events.
