The Katie Taylor returns to the prize ring and that’s reason enough to shove away all other plans and activities.

Any time one of the top pound-for-pound queens step back in the ring that’s a special occasion. This weekend lightweights, bantamweights and flyweights will be available to watch on DAZN and ESPN+.

Ireland’s undisputed lightweight champion Taylor (21-0, 6 Kos) meets Argentina’s Karen Carabajal (19-0, 2 Kos) at Wembley in London, England. DAZN will stream the world title match and a bantamweight clash between Mary Romero and Ellie Scotney.

Once again Matchroom Boxing looks to Argentina for opportunity to show off UK talent.

Taylor finally returns since her epic clash with Amanda Serrano that sent shockwaves in the boxing universe with its intensity and drawing power in ticket sales and viewership. Two weeks ago, another blockbuster women’s card continued to draw attention with Claressa Shields, Savannah Marshall, Alycia Baumgardner and Mikaela Mayer.

Here we are again with Taylor facing off against Carabajal.

Though both are undefeated the quality of competition faced by Taylor dwarfs the type of competition faced by the Argentine contender. But if Carabajal fights like her compatriots expect a full 10 rounds of action. Taylor doesn’t play around with anybody. She takes her craft seriously.

The accompanying bantamweight bout between Romero and Scotney should be more evenly matched. It’s experience versus youth.

This coming weekend, a number of other female prize fights battle for attention. Of course, Taylor’s fight deserves the most attention but in the USA two other boxing cards will follow on the same day.

San Diego flyweight battle

A flyweight clash between Argentina’s Leonela Yudica (18-0-3) and Mexico’s Arely Mucino (31-3-2) for the IBF title takes place at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego and will be shown on DAZN. The victor will probably meet unified flyweight champion Marlen Esparza next year.

Yudica, 34, is undefeated and formerly held the IBF flyweight title. She has battled against many international competitors from Japan, USA and Mexico.

Mucino, 33, has no world titles but has won all four belts at one time or another as a flyweight. The Mexican fighter now trains in Southern California and has not lost a fight in seven years. But she came close to losing last year to Jackie Calvo in Anaheim, California. Has she fought in too many tough wars?

Tijuana and More

Just across the border Kenia Enriquez (24-1, 10 Kos) returns and fights Nora Cardoza (16-9-2) at Grand Hotel in Tijuana on Friday Oct. 28. It will be an eight-round flyweight bout and televised on ESPN Knockout and Canela.TV.

Enriquez has long been the most feared light flyweight in the world. Now she has entered the flyweight division and is ranked number one by numerous sanctioning bodies including the IBF. The winner of Mucino and Yudica will most probably need to face Enriquez. She’s the monster of the flyweights now.

In Glendale, Arizona, super middleweights Shadasia Green (10-0) and Ogleidis Suarez (30-4-1) meet eight rounds on the under card of Jake Paul versus Anderson Silva at Gila River Arena. Showtime pay-per-view may televise the fight, but if not, it should be available to watch on Showtime’s YouTube page.

Green has a seven-fight knockout string and looks to make it eight against Suarez, a veteran from Venezuela who began fighting professionally as a featherweight in 2006. It’s the only female bout on the card but credit to Jake Paul for adding it to the roster of fights. Paul promotes the great Amanda Serrano who recently fought and won the IBF featherweight title to add to her growing collection.
