French Boxing Star Angelique Duchemin Dies of Heart Attack

Angelique Duchemin a young French boxing champion died on Tuesday apparently after heart problems developed while working out in her local boxing gym according to Times of India news organization.

Duchemin, 26, recently won the WBF featherweight world title and was training for an upcoming title defense on Oct. 12. It was during training at her boxing club in Thuir in the Pyrenees that she developed complications and was allegedly given resuscitation therapy before getting transported to a nearby hospital.

It was at a hospital in Perpignan that she was announced dead on Tuesday morning from a blood clot to the heart also known as a pulmonary embolism.

The French fighter had recently defeated Ericka Rousseau this past May 12 by unanimous decision after 10 rounds to win the featherweight world title in Royan, France. One month earlier Duchemin had captured the EBU super featherweight title by decision over Taoussy L’Hadji in Issoudun, France.

She had a total of 14 pro wins and no losses and was seen as an upcoming star in the French boxing world.

Condolences are being sent to the Duchemin family in Thuir from all over the boxing world.
