Female Fight News week of Dec. 5, 2016 – WBC Female Exhibition Honors the Late Grandpa Rangel.
Instead of the usual slowing of boxing activities the women’s world of boxing seems to be thrusting into second gear.
A female boxing exhibition in Westminster, California drew hundreds of fans who were able to meet several top female prizefighters at Grandpa’s Boxing Gym on Sunday Dec. 4, in an afternoon session. The event was sponsored by the WBC.
Among those featured were Maricela Cornejo, Mia St. John, Amaris Quintana, Kenia Enriquez and Seniesa Estrada. All of the female fighters met and greeted the fans at the Orange County facility that is home to nearly 100 boxing youths.
Pepe Sulaiman of the WBC was among those who took part in the event that celebrated the advent of female boxing and the continuing existence of the popular gym started by the late Rene “Grandpa” Rangel who passed away this past May 2016. He was a strong supporter of female boxing and opened the gym in 2011 to help the local youth.
