Amanda vs Katie 3 and Other Female Champions Hitting New York in July

Amanda and Katie Prep NYC for Trilogy Several Other Women Fights at Madison Square Garden

Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor thrice.

There is blood in the water this time.

“Seventy million plus thought that I won the fight,” said Serrano about their last fight at the press conference in New York City on Wednesday.

“It’s really, really, insane that she thinks she won those fights,” said Taylor at the same press conference.

Get ready for all the smoke on this all-female fight card coming when Taylor (24-1, 6 Kos) defends the undisputed super lightweight championship against Serrano (47-3-1, 31 Kos) at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 11.

Netflix will stream the Most Valuable Promotions card.

“This is the biggest event of my career to promote,” said Jake Paul, one of the MVP promoters along with Nakisa Bidarian.

Every time these gladiator women tangle they establish records and smash any notions that female prizefighting does not sell. They smash it to bits.

Serrano, the native New Yorker and seven-division world titlist meets Ireland’s Taylor, the undisputed super lightweight and former undisputed lightweight and they are bringing along four other female bouts featuring world champions.

The first time they met in the prize ring at MSG on April 30, 2022, they electrified the fans inside and viewers across the world with their performance. As a journalist who has covered the sport since 1985, it was the greatest boxing event I had ever attended.

As a fan who attended historic Mexican clashes such as Carlos Zarate versus Alfonso Zamora at the Inglewood Forum, even that crazy event did not compare to Serrano and Taylor’s first encounter.

It was unique.

From the weigh-in the day before to the final bell the next day, after 10 furious rounds between the two champions, I had never witnessed that thick pure emotion inside an arena. No one seemed certain that their favorite fighter was the definite winner. Victory was established when the actual event took place.

I remember thinking as I looked around the sell-out crowd that women’s boxing was no longer cloaked in mystery. For decades many people with loud voices had proclaimed women’s boxing was not capable of attracting enough fans to make money.

Those loudmouths were wrong.

As a journalist I always predicted that women’s boxing could sell. And not only boxing, but all sports that women participate such as basketball, soccer or tennis.

The world is finally catching up.

This past November, Taylor and Serrano were part of the Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson card that established the record for streamed views exceeding more than 107 million viewers on average. The women’s battle between Serrano and Taylor exceeded 73 million.

The Taylor-Serrano numbers convinced many media outlets that women’s boxing is a definite lure for viewers.

MVP Signing Top Female Fighters

Most Valuable Promotions has rapidly slipped into attack mode by signing a number of young female champions like Alycia Baumgardner and Dina Thorslund and prospects such as Naomy Valle and Nat Dove.

Among the tantalizing matches slated for July are Denmark’s Thorslund versus America’s Shurreta Metcalf in a bantamweight unification fight. Also, England’s Ellie Scotney versus Mexico’s Yamileth Mercado in a super bantam unification match; and undisputed super featherweight champion Baumgardner against Spain’s undefeated Jennifer Miranda.

Even the main event fighters are amazed at the fight card.

“Headlining an all-female card, it’s an amazing all female card. One of the best in history,” said Taylor.

Serrano was equally pleased.

“This is truly an opportunity. Not just for me but for all these women,” said Serrano who is part of the promotion team.

MVP and Netflix are betting on the women.
