Japan’s Mizuki “Mimi” Hiruta will sign with Most Valuable Promotions on Wednesday at Arlington, Texas according to unofficial sources not approved by MVP to speak on their behalf.

Hiruta (11-0, 2 KOs), the WBO super flyweight titlist who was also voted last year as the Ring Magazine Female Fighter of the Year in 2025. The actual official signing will take place in Texas as MVP presents its impressive fight card at Arlington, Texas on Sunday. ESPN will televise the event.

It was several years ago that Hiruta arrived in the USA seeking to find a trainer to further polish her already superb athleticism. The pink-haired or blonde-haired, or green-haired fighter from Tokyo had captured the WBO world title with a decisive win over Kanako Taniyama on December 2022. She then made her first defense against Casey Croft on June 2023 and won by first round knockout in Tokyo.

Many observers credited her new trainer Manny Robles as the reason for her impressive knockout win. Her training took place in Los Angeles and she soon was able to sign a promotional contract with 360 Boxing Promotions  headed by Tom Loeffler. It proved to be a perfect combination.

With 360 Promotions the speedy southpaw Hiruta defended the WBO title four times within a year. She was the only world champion to fight and defend a world title four times. Her activity enabled her to be the front-runner for the Ring Magazine award for best female fighter.

Last year 360 Boxing Promotions was gobbled up by Zuffa Promotions and most of the fighters under the Los Angeles-based promotion company moved to Zuffa. But the women were not included with the new boxing promotion company. Among those left in limbo were Hiruta, Lupe Medina and Roxy Verduzco.

For a short while there were rumors that Zuffa was interested in signing Hiruta but after not hearing for weeks, the popular Hiruta decided to sign with MVP.

Hiruta, 30, trains within miles of the current WBC super flyweight titlist Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz. Both have sparred with each other a few years ago and both expressed interest in a clash to unify the two titles. Ruiz is promoted by Sheer Sports Management.

Signing with MVP who also have super flyweight champions Irma Garcia and Nataly Delgado gives Hiruta several other options for unification matches that are all the rage in women’s boxing.

“I want all the titles,” said Hiruta.
