LOS ANGELES-Even relationships thought to be made in heaven can go awry.

One of boxing’s top female fight stars Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada of East Los Angeles was given her release from her contract by Golden Boy Promotions said Joe Estrada father of the light minimumweight and light flyweight world titlist on Saturday.

“We tried everything,” said Estrada. “She just wanted what she felt she deserved.”

Estrada had sought to renegotiate her contract with Golden Boy especially after being named to the top 10 female fighters pound for pound by numerous publications including Ring Magazine the publication owned by the L.A. promotion company.

Robert Diaz, matchmaker for Golden Boy, said their company could not match Estrada’s request but “we wish her the best in her career. I was very close with their team.”

Seniesa Estrada was present at the Golden Boy Promotions card at Crypto.com Arena doing analysis for DAZN alongside. She said the next step is finding a new promoter.

For the past several months Estrada sought to have her contract reconfigured to implement the new standings she had accomplished with a knockout win over Maria Santizo and world title capture against Japan’s dangerous Tsunami Tenkai a year ago.

Many boxing publications, including this one, consider Estrada one of boxing’s most exciting fighters regardless of weight category.

Before signing with Golden Boy Promotions several years ago, the petite fighter with the deadly left hook had always sought to become part of Golden Boy Promotions, a company started by East L.A.’s Oscar De La Hoya. It was thought to be a perfect match.
